2011-Jul-16 : Italians invade Columbia (O22)

O22 Approach On July 16, with overcast skies two planes a Beechcraft Bonanza (pilot Gary Oberti) and a Piper Twin Comanche (Pilot Alberto Rossi) invaded Columbia, CA. Accompanying them were Pat (Piro) Polehla and Betsy Cottini. This became a special fly-out limited to people of Italian descent, since no else showed up for the fly-out. The cloud cover was from Hayward to almost the Altamont Pass, which was what limited the turnout.

After landing at the airport, the four of them walked into the historic town to see the sights and of course have lunch (Isnít it illegal to have a fly-out without lunch?). After lunch, there was more sightseeing in the town, then back to the airport for the flight home. By then the clouds had cleared up for an easy flight back to Hayward. All in all it was a good trip and the town of Columbia is still safe for visitors.
